You`ll Never Walk Alone is consider to be the world`s most popular football song. Both the melody and lyric are beautiful. The encouraging words give listeners hope for the future in general, not only in football. That`s one of the reason for the song`s enourmous popularity. The song is sung at football clubs around the world, where it is performed by a massed chorus of supporters on matchday.This tradition began at Liverpool Football Club in the early 1960s and later spread to several other clubs.

A large number of versions have been recorded of the song, circa 140. Also Elvis Presley has sung the song, but the song's most successful version of the song was recorded in 1963 by the Liverpudlian Merseybeat group Gerry & The Pacemakers. It became  number one in the singles chart for four consecutive weeks in United Kingdom.

The Liverpool supporters adopted the sung quickly and became a part of their ritual before the start of each home game. It became the anthem of Liverpool Football Club and later the words "You'll Never Walk Alone" were featuring in the club crest and on the Shankly Gate entrance to the stadium.
