Wonderful adventure at Dead Sea - floating at the lowest spot on earth in Jordan!

It was a salty and hot experience descending down to the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth. This sea between Jordan and Isreal is believed to have healing powers because of the super salty water. It was great enjoying the afternoon in July 2005 swimming around in the sea water and bathing in the sun. Actual the expression of swimming is not completely correct while I rather was floating than swimming. It was really amazing that it was no need to use efforts to float on this water. I also took some mud treatment that made me almost unrecognisable.

The area around the Dead Sea it`s a also a Biblical site. Sodom and Gomorrah, the site where Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt, is believed to have been located close to the Dead Sea.

Archaelogical finds from the west bank of the Jordan River have been dated at around 9000 BC. With Bible stories, lost cities, nomads as the Bedouins, and Lawrence of Arabia, Jordan wakes fairytale associations. One of the most amazing wonders was created by the Nabataens people. It`s called Little Petra, the Red-Rose city, and has a high-spirited adventure in true Indiana Jones style. So this area was just perfect for one of the movies about Indiana Jones.......

Mystery of the Treasury Monument in Petra - Jordan - What was the purpose of building this wonder?

It`s imortalised in the end of the movie The Last Crusadar with Harrison Ford in the main role as Indiana Jones. For they who believe these wonder is fairytale, they need to think twice. Trhough history there hase been lot of speculations about the purpose for this monument. While some would propose that the Treasury Monument was a tomb, no tomb inscriptions or grave crypts have been discovered. Others have proposed that it was what the Arabs call it, a 'Treasury' or tax house for passing camel caravans, but archeologists and historians now doubt that many camel caravans came into Petra, as most of the caravans passed the city, traveling on the King's Highway a good number of miles away.

One thing that is certain, the Treasury Monument was built to impress. It`s the first monument that visitors see when they exited the siq, and it is also one of the finest monuments in all of Petra. The Treasury, Street of Facades, Water Works, The Theater, The Royal Tombs, High Place, Colonnade Street, Great Temple, Temple of Al Uzza, Temple of Dushares, Dier - the Monestary, Habis, Biera, City of Board Games, the Snake Monumen, Sabara Suburb, City Walls/Map, Al Beidha, Churches, Kubtha High Place, Wadi Nmeir and other interesting things.
