Dramatic encounter with a polar bear at Svalbard, Norway!

Happy trolls greet visitors in Oslo, Norway!

For many travellers from around the world, the trolls in Norway capital main street Karl Johan`s gate, draw a lot of attention. I guess many wonder: what are the amazing creatures doing here? Are they guarding the Norwegians, or are they trying to scare away foreign visitors? By looking at their great smile, it`s more likely that the trolls are greeting nice visitors. Breaking the ice in the sauna - A Finnish way to solve problems and conflicts!

In Finland it isn't a better way to solve problems and conflicts than in a hot sauna. The Finnish European Union Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn's recently suggested that Turkey and Greek should be brought together for peace talk in a sauna. It's also a place where people do business and make friendship. As the Indians in northern America smoke peace pipe, the Finns make peace in saunas. It's their way of life.

Sauna is thought to be beneficial physically for many reasons, such as increased blood circulation, flushing of impurities by sweating, raised pulse and metabolic rate. The Tangaroa expedition has succesfully reached the island Raroia!

On 8 July 2006 the Tangaro expedition reached its target. Tangaroas sailing across the Pacific has turned out well without conflicts, dramatic situations or accidents. The men on the raft say they are better friends now than when they started. Their goal was to sail the same route as the world famous Norwegian, Thor Heyerdahl did, when he crossed the ocean with his raft Kon-Tiki in 1947.

DNA indicates that people from Asia immigrated the Easter Island!

For 65 years ago the world famous Norwegian adventurer and scientist Thor Heyerdahl's launched a theory that the remote Easter Island was populated by people from South America. Amazing stories told by Bedouins in Jordan!

Stories are an important part of the Bedouins culture. They are the majority of Jordan's population. Their great hospitality is something you never forget. Over all, I and my guide Ibrahim become invited by local people in tents for tea and resting in the shadow. I enjoyed being with Bedouins to picnics, joining Bedouin Whiskey parties, participating in Bedouin traditional dances, and drinking tea with people in the tents. Celebrating of Malta`s patron saints!

Ever since St. Paul was shipwrecked in Malta religion has been central for the Maltese people. This is evident by the hundreds of churches and chapels scattered throughout the islands of Malta and Gozo. Many of these magnificent structures were built hundreds of years ago. The Maltese know how to celebrates their saints. As I could observe, the Maltese Fireworks Festival in the Grand Harbour in the capital Valletta on the 29th and 30th of April 2006, was a spectacular show, but it was just the beginning for something more: the coming months villages and towns of Malta and Gozo will celebrate the feast of their patron saints. Here churces and cathedrals play an important rolle for the locals.
